Fret Cut Sign Tray Fabrication

MDP Supplies offers a service to the trade for fret cut sign trays (folded pans).

Manufactured from 3mm aluminium composite and available in a range of colours and finishes, the sign trays provide a robust, long lasting signage solution for exterior use. We can provide them with LED illumination and offer them with 3 finishing options for the cut-outs.

Custom Fret Cut Sign Tray

Dimensions

Specify the sizing of the face of the sign tray and enter the depth of the return.

Maximum Width

There is no maximum width but trays widths (inc returns) greater than the following have to be manufactured as multiple panels. These are supplied with tongue & groove joining strips for on-site application. Please take this into account when designing your signs as we will need somewhere to split the tray without weakening the face.
Standard colours - 3000mm
Special finish colours - 2400mm

Maximum Height

Due to the sheet size the following are recommended maximum heights (inc returns) for panels
Standard colours - 1460mm
Special finish colours - 1200mm
We can supply trays larger than this but there will be more joins as the sheets need to be used portrait.

Upstand

This is an additional lip at the back of the tray on the top, it is used when you can't get fixings into the top of the tray, such as under a canopy. This measurement is in addition to the face size of the tray, please take this into account when measuring and ordering.

Downstand

A downstand is the same as an upstand but on the bottom of the tray.

Depth Of Return

We recommend 85mm for the returns to avoid spotting from the LEDs.

Select The Colour

Choose the colour of the aluminum composite. Click help for colour chart.

Fret Cut Areas

Specify the size of each fret cut area.
If there is more than one area click the + icon to add more areas.

In the example below there are 2 fret cut areas, the main 'Shop Sign' text sized at 1070 x 210mm and the strapline text which is sized at 1625 x 100mm.

Give each of the 2 sections an identifiable name, eg for the first one 'Shop Sign', enter the dimensions of the area and type of cut out finishing required, then click the + icon. Then repeat for the second section, eg. call this 'Strapline', enter the dimensions and the type of cut out finishing required and then click the + icon again.

We offer 3 different types of finishing for the cut outs, recessed, flush or raised.

The opal acrylic is fitted to the reverse of the sign tray face giving the lettering a recessed look.	5mm opal acrylic is used so it is nearly flush with the tray face.	Using 10mm opal acrylic the letters protrude out approximately 5mm from the sign tray face.
Fret cut areas will be filled with opal acrylic as standard. For recessed areas you can specify an alternative acrylic colour fill, without additional cost. Flush and raised finishes are only available in clear or opal. If you require a different colour for a raised finish we recommend you apply a vinyl when you receive the tray. Specific fill colour requests must be emailed within 1 hour of placing your job order or entered into the notes section of the order.

Backing Panel / Illumination

The tray can be supplied with a pre-installed LED backing panel or just as a face if
installing onto an existing light box.

If this is a new sign installation we can provide a full backing panel with aluminium angle and pre-installed LEDS with power suppy ready for installation.
We use LEDs with Samsung chips and CE approved IP67 power supplies. Where the face of the sign is being fitted onto an existing light box then select Face Only.
